Gujia, . It is one of the proteinous Indian recipe. A very famous north Indian recipe, cooked especially in Uttar pradesh, Madhya pradesh, Bihar cities. and also in j&k and other parts of country
You could make this indian recipe pretty easily at your home. I belong to north India. My mom cooks it really well. Well, it would be difficult to find Gujia in one of the indian restaurants/h otels. Never mind. Try this Indian recipe of Gujia for yourself.
Gujia recipe ingredients:-For the Cover :
Plain flour (maida) - 1 cup
Ghee - 10 g
For the Filling :
Desiccated coconut - 1 cup
Khoya - 1/2 cup
Nuts (almonds,cashew,pista) Crushed - 10 gms
Raisins - 10-12
Green cardamom (powdered) - 1/2 tsp
Sugar to taste (powdered) - 1/4 cup
Method:-
For the cover :
Mix flour and Ghee well. Add some water to make soft dough. Keep aside.
For the filling :
Mash the khoya and fry it in a pan till light brown in color. Add desiccated coconut, cardamom powder and nuts. Mix well, add sugar. Check for sweetness.
Make small balls out of the dough and roll into small puries. Place 1 tsp. filling in one half of round. Fold over the other half, sealing in the mixture. Make the sealing secure by pinching the edges with your fingertips. A gujia mould can also be used. Deep fry to a golden color on a slow heat.
