ingredients:-Balls or vada:-
Black gram - 1 cup
Green chilli - 2
Asafoetida - a pinch
Oil for deep frying
Salt to taste
Yogurt dressing (dahi):-
Yogurt - 3 cups
Roasted cumin powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
method:-
Wash and soak urad dal overnight. Drain excess water. Add green chili, asafoetida and grind to paste. Heat oil in pan, fry small flat ball on medium brown until golden brown. Drain off excess oil by putting it in a salt water for 2 minutes. Remove and squeeze water from balls (vada). Add salt, pepper, and roasted cumin powder in yogurt and mix well. Add yogurt mixture over the vada 1 hour before serving. Sprinkle roasted cumin powder, black salt and chopped coriander leaves. Serve this indian recipe of dahi vada with tamarind chutney or tomato sauce.
